Erich Tilgner Ph.D.

My path to life coaching is the result of a lifelong passion I have for helping people, combined with a concern for the issues men face in today’s complicated world.  All my life, I have been known as a good listener.  I also know how to ask the right questions to prompt people to think differently, and see things from new perspectives.  Basically, I am the “go to guy” for family and friends when they need someone to listen to them, or help them sort out their issues.

A natural problem solver, I am extremely creative, and have had success in many diverse endeavors before starting my life coaching practice.  After graduating from Cornell University, I spent the summer as a research intern at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and Finca La Selva research station in Costa Rica.  I then went on to complete a Ph.D. in entomology from the University of Georgia.   During my doctoral studies, I won grants, published seminal peer reviewed research papers in my field of study, including the description of a new species of insect.  I also conducted international travel as a visiting scientist at the British Museum of Natural History.

After completing my Ph.D.,  I spent a decade working as an educational consultant in some of the toughest public schools in Atlanta, GA.  Some highlights of that career included winning “Teacher of the Year” award for educational work I did with literally thousand of students, and the “Superman Award” for saving the life of a teacher while I was out at a school.  During this time, I was married and helped raise a stepdaughter.  I also founded the Atlanta Men’s Support Meetup group, and led meetings where men gathered and discussed issues relevant to the modern man.

A few years ago, I traveled to Peru to experience Shamanic Healing from traditional indigenous healers.  During this trip to the jungle, I had profound mystical experiences that changed my life, and brought me closer to the great mysteries of existence.  It was a transformative experience that served as my true initiation into manhood.  After that, I had the feeling that I wanted to change my career direction to be of service to other men, since I had successfully been through so much in my own life, and I wanted to share what I learned with others.  I then pursued training as a life coach, graduated from the Fowler Wainwright Institute of Professional Coaching and moved from Georgia to California to start my life coaching practice.

I now live in Mill Valley, California with my fiancée who I love very much.

I hope to be of service to you someday.  Thank you for taking the time to read my biography.

Sincerely,

Erich Tilgner Ph.D.
